Prostate Health Herbal Tea - Small Flowered Willow-herb
I have been doing a great deal of research on the prostate as a close friend's father has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer. In the next few days, I will be posting a lot of info. However, no matter what you choose to do if you have prostate problems, it should never replace seeing a doctor that you trust.

The following is a favorite of mine, Maria Treben. You can google any ailment with Maria's name and you will find great remedies. Here is the one on prostate health.

Please let me know if you have tried or will try any of the remedies I post, work. Better yet, I would love any new info from out there as well.

Natural Prostate Health
"Once I received a letter from a family man in which it said, I quote: "I beg you to show me a way back to health and give my family back their healthy father." Before, he had related his story: In 1961 a chronic inflammation of the prostate gland became acute through bathing in water containing radium. He went from one hospital to another, no doctor operated on him, he was in despair. Every time he had a bowel movement, there was pus and blood in the stools. Due to the many medications he developed duodenal ulcers, serious liver disorders and the valuable intestinal bacteria were destroyed. He became very sick and, on the doctor's orders, had to stop all medication. Then he was, as he wrote, operated on electrically. Despite the operation the inflammation did not clear up. Medications and injections worsened his condition again. Then he started to drink Stinging Nettle tea and a special tea for bladder trouble, which improved his condition so far that he was able to go back to work. He could have spared himself all this suffering had he but known the Small Flowered Willow-herb which can cure disorders of the prostate gland.

Beware! Aspartame to be Renamed "AMINO SWEET"!
This is scary!!!!!!! As my title says, BEWARE! Be sure to read Dr. Mercola's comments as well.

America's Deadliest Sweetener Betrays Millions, Then Hoodwinks You With Name Change
Aspartame producer Ajinomoto is launching a new initiative that will rebrand the sweetener as “AminoSweet”.

Aspartame is used in many foods and beverages marketed as low calorie or sugar-free. However, its reputation has been clouded somewhat by studies that have investigated reports of ill effects.

Just to remind you, the side effects of aspartame can include:

* Headache
* Change in vision
* Convulsions and seizures
* Hallucination
* Nausea and vomiting
* Joint pain

It can cause many, many other problems as well.

Low-fat, Mediterranean and Low-carb Diets 'help heart".
A great article if you need to reverse blocked arteries or just want to stay healthy! "This study shows you can do something to reduce plaque build-up, even without pills," Dr Knight said.

BBC News - Low-fat, Mediterranean and low-carb diets 'help heart'
Three diets - Mediterranean, low-fat and low-carbohydrate - are equally effective in helping reverse blocked arteries, say Israeli researchers.

The study of 140 people, reported in the journal Circulation, found diet could reduce the fatty build up in arteries.

The Ben-Gurion University team found by the end of the two-year study the arterial wall was cut by 5%.

Experts said the study was interesting, but diet was not a "magic bullet".

Atherosclerosis is a progressive condition in which the arteries thicken with fatty deposits, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.

Soft Drinks & Cancer, Chocolate & Strokes
This article is a really important one to read if you drink a lot of pop (soft drinks) or eat a lot of chocolate. Read both pages!

Soft Drinks & Cancer, Chocolate & Strokes(Page 2) | Care2 Healthy & Green Living
Is Chocolate Really Good for You?
Yes, say researchers at McMaster University in Ontario, who released data showing that dark chocolate lowers your risk of stroke, and lessens the likelihood of death after a stroke, as well. It’s not the chocolate that’s so healthy; it’s a flavonoid called epicatechin, which is present in the original cocoa beans from which chocolate is made. (It’s easy to forget that chocolate comes originally from plants.) The plant-based chemical relaxes blood vessels and clears cholesterol, easing blood flow to and from the heart.

Flavonoids are present primarily in dark chocolate; the process used to create milk chocolate dilutes them. So the M&Ms and Hershey’s milk chocolate kisses don’t count.

5 Foods That Help You Lose Weight!
I love this article. Rather than telling you what not to eat, it tells you what to eat to help you lose weight: oats (I add these to my smoothie every am), apples (easy - love them!), eggs (cool), cinnamon (in the smoothie too!), and almonds and almond butter (I make my own granola and add these). I don't need to lose weight but I want to eat healthy!

5 Foods That Help You Lose Weight(Page 6) | Care2 Healthy & Green Living
Don’t get sucked into the idea that food is your enemy when you’re trying to lose weight. In fact, it’s just the opposite: Befriend the right foods, and the pounds are much more likely to peel off than if you just try to cut calories across the board. Here, seven foods known by nutritionists to boost your body’s fat-burning potential

1. Oats
Wait a minute; aren’t oats a carb? Yes and no. Oats are a whole grain, and they’re high on what nutritionists call the “satiety index,” meaning oats have tremendous power to make you feel full. Not only that, they’re also high in soluble fiber, so they cut cholesterol and blood fat. Oats digest slowly, so they don’t raise your blood sugar, and they keep you feeling filled up well into the late morning. Old-fashioned steel-cut and rolled oats, with up to 5 grams of fiber per serving, are best, but even instant oatmeal has 3 to 4 grams of fiber per serving.

Top 7 Foods That Slow Your Aging
After having spent 8 days in Cuba, I can't wait to get back to eating healthy! When I opened my many emails, this one really hit home. It is a really good read. I am eating most of them but will now add whey protein and TRY to cut grains and sugars from my diet!?!

Top 7 Foods That Slow Your Aging
Healthy foods not only provide you with life-giving nutrients and fuel for all the organs in your body, they also help you keep an ideal weight. And as study after study proves, and regular readers of this newsletter know, maintaining an optimum weight can add years of healthy vitality to your life.

You are What You Eat

I’m sure you’ve heard that old saying, and it’s as true today as it ever was.

It all boils down to this: if you want to optimize your health, you must return to the basics of healthy food, ideally, chosen specifically for your nutritional type, because it’s all about eating the proper ratios of the right types of food for your personal biochemistry.

There is no way around this simple fact. It may not be as convenient as you would like. It may be more costly in the short term, both in dollars and cents and in the amount of time required to obtain and prepare healthy foods. But make no mistake -- there are no short-cuts when it comes to this single most important thing you can do for your health.

In today’s world, the need for speed has taken over our lives. Fast and processed foods are what most working people and families seek out for the sake of convenience and speed.

Then when years of bad food choices take their toll on health, people want to feel better by tomorrow. They want to be at their ideal weight by next week. And as luck would have it, there is an endless supply of drugs and fake foods available promising to do just that.

Unfortunately, nearly all of these “magic pills” and diets can worsen your health even more in the long run.

Ultimately, the simplest and most effective way to achieve good health and a long life is to focus on the nutrition you are putting in your body on a daily basis.

What Makes the Chia Seed the Super Food?
I happened to be at one of my favorite stores called DAQ and I always buy nuts and seeds. I had never taken the time to look at all the labels until yesterday. I saw CHIA SEEDS! I had heard a little bit about these seeds (besides the Chia Pet) but not much. I came home and googled it and was so totally amazed at the benefits that I jumped up and made the gel - 9 parts water, one part seeds and I sprinkled some seeds on my salad. This morning I put 1 tbsp in my smoothie. Can't wait for the benefits! Read on and google it as well. You will be amazed at what you find!

The Health Benefits of the Chia Seed | Healthmad
What makes the Chia Seed the super food that many claim it to be?

* 30% of the chia seed’s oil is Omega 3 oil. 40% of its oil is Omega 6 oil. This provides the nice balance those who take supplemental Essential Fatty Acids are looking for. The chia seed’s substantially dense percentage in alpha-linolenic fatty acid also makes this seed a healthy dietary source of fatty acids.
* You do not need to grind the Chia Seeds to digest it. It is a relatively easy to digest seed, whereas flax seeds are not. Often, one has to grind flax seeds to be able to process them in their digestive system. That is not the case with chia seeds.
* The chia seeds are great for athletes because they are highly hydrophilic. Being hydrophilic means it absorbs large amounts of water. Chia Seeds can absorb over 10 times their weight in water making them a great enhancer in hydrating our bodies. They absorb the water we drink holding it in our system longer.
* Studies show that eating chia seed slows down how fast our bodies convert carbohydrate calories into simple sugars. This leads scientists to believe that the chia seed may have great benefits for diabetics.
* The chia seed gels when becoming wet and this gel, when in our digestive systems, helps prevent some of the food, hence calories that we eat from getting absorbed into our system. This blockage of calorie absorption makes the chia seed a great diet helper. Eating the seeds also helps dieters by making them feel fuller faster so they will be less hungry!
* Chia seeds provide antioxidant activity
* Chia is a great addition to a detoxification program. Chia seeds are high in fiber and in healthy oils making them an excellent addition to many detox programs.
* Mix Chia seeds into yogurt, sprinkle them on cereal in the morning, add to salads, or even add them to your baking. There are many ways to add chia seeds into your daily routine!

How The Health of Your Teeth Impacts The Rest of Your Body
I could have sworn I wrote about my TM joint but it doesn't seem to have been published. I could hardly wait to follow up with this article! Oh well, I will begin with it.

If you have back problems, headaches, etc, go see a dentist! Sound crazy? When I was in my late twenties, I had headaches and neck aches everyday. I was told to get a sport splint from a sports dentist. I did. What they do is make an imprint of your "correct" bite when your TM joint is aligned and make a splint with it. I wore it every day. As soon as I put it in my mouth, the pain disappeared! I wore it for 9 months and then it broke. I never get headaches to this day and I am a grandma! It righted my TM Joint!

Read the following few stories about what happened to others and how the DENTIST corrected it.
What Your Dentist Might Be Missing | Care2 Healthy & Green Living
By Tijn Touber, Ode Magazine

A man goes to the dentist with a terrible toothache. The doctor examines the tooth and says: “You need a bowel cleanse.” The man follows this advice and…the toothache disappears.

The man was lucky to be in the care of a holistic dentist, one of the fastest-growing health-care fields. This new crop of dentists looks at the mouth in the context of the entire body. That’s a groundbreaking perspective in this profession–of all the medical specialisations, dentistry is the most removed from the rest of health care. Many people, including some dentists, simply assume the health of your teeth has no impact on the rest of your body.

Recent research shows that the effects of non-holistic dentistry can be very serious. According to the British medical newsletter “What Doctors Don’t Tell You” (November 2004), gum problems nearly double the risk of a heart attack and a vitamin B6 deficiency and can lead to tooth decay. Research also shows that a holistic approach to your teeth can heal the most unlikely ills.

A misalignment of the upper and lower jaws, for instance, can lead to back pain, arthritis, headaches, pain in the legs, neck and shoulders. This happens when chronic muscle cramping occurs in the jaw, which is then counterbalanced by other parts of the body. The first research on this subject was published in 1987 in the Journal of the American Dental Association (issue 115). These results were confirmed recently by Austrian researchers in the trade journal Acta Medica Austriaca (issue 31, 2004), among others.

Take the example of a soccer player who visits his dentist for an annual check-up. He’s having trouble walking because of a hamstring injury. The dentist tells him his maxillary joint is off balance and rectifies the problem. The hamstring injury miraculously disappears. It turns out the soccer player was compensating the imbalanced joint by constantly sticking out his jaw. As a result, his spine curved, which in turn pushed his pelvis forward. This disrupted his running form, creating undue stress on his legs. Chronic problems with his hamstrings followed.

Losing Your Face Over a Med - Acetaminophen
This is a rather frightening story! Be sure to read the whole article. I feel rather fortunate that nothing like that has happened to me. Thank heavens for natural remedies. I used to get terrible headaches in my early 20's. Someone told me to go to a sports dentist and have a splint made for my mouth. (Athletes apparently use these to do better!). It aligns the Temporomandibular Joint or TM Joint at the sides of your face and as a result, you totally relax your body. I wore one for 9 months (it broke) and never again. No headaches ever since and I am now a grandma!! Remember to check out natural remedies before taking drugs!!

Losing your face over a med
Losing your face over a med
February 2, 2010

A young woman in Sweden is recovering after suffering from one of the ultimate bad drug reactions: the skin on her face fell off.

This was a rare side effect–but from one of the most common drugs.

Eva Uhlin was just 15 years old when she popped some acetaminophen to help fight a fever. Like so many people, she had taken this med many times before with no problems.

Her luck was about to change.

Shocking Facts You Didn't Realize About Your Food...
You really need to watch the video on this page or rent the film, FoodMatters! It could save your life! Good luck!

Shocking Facts You Didn’t Realize About Your Food…
Between 1977 and 2002, the percent of the American population eating three or more snacks a day -- and most of it junk food -- increased to 42 percent from 11 percent. Further, researchers found, the percent of children surveyed who said they had eaten three meals on the previous day went down, while those who had had a snack went up more than 40 percent.

The U.S. consumed over $68 billion in packaged snack foods in 2008, up from $60 billion in 2004. Among the newest and best-selling concepts are small packs of cookies and other junk foods. The spread of snacking has been abetted by over-scheduled children and the death of the family dinner.

This is just one aspect of a much larger problem that encompasses a reliance on nutritionally depleted foods, chemical additives and pharmaceutical drugs to treat the resulting malnourished bodies. The new film 'Food Matters' -- you can watch the trailer above -- looks at these problems and provides some scientifically verifiable solutions for curing disease naturally.
