Research shows how to effectively reduce blood sugar
Researchers from China’s State Agriculture Ministry and Zheijang University have determined that naringin and neohesperidin from citrus fruit is effective in reducing blood sugar levels while increasing insulin sensitivity within the cell. Keep in mind, too much fruit is NOT a good idea for diabetics but citrus fruit (in moderation) can be enjoyed – as part of a healthy diet.
The study confirms previous research, which showed these two citrus constituents can be helpful in reducing blood sugar for those with or at risk for Type-2 diabetes and suffer with poor glucose control. Researchers have found that these components also regulate liver enzymes known to facilitate glucose uptake regulation and increase liver efficiency.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is more effective than conventional medicine
The researchers extracted the two flavonoids from the Chinese citrus fruit called Hoyou, as well as grapefruit and other related species. These have been used as an anti-diabetic agent in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayuveda and other traditional Asian medical treatments.
The naringin and neohesperidin compounds are found throughout the fruit part of the citrus, including the juice sacs and segments. The best sources are sour oranges, mandarin oranges, grapefruits including both red and blond varieties, and sweeties a hybrid of pummelo and blond grapefruits.
By the way, sweet oranges alone are not a good source plus lemons and limes typically do not contain either compound.
Can Diabetics really live (safely) without medication?
